Does God really have any relevance in the affairs of Mankind or even in our own personal lives? Before I answer this question, simply look at the turmoil raging around the world or at the society you live in today.
With crime, murder, pride, selfishness, hatred, greed and numerous other social destructive actions it should be easy to see what it is like to live without the governing and guidance God can give in the lives of his creation.
Because we simply reject the guidance of God and want to do things without the seemingly restrictive laws of God, the world lives with rape, murder, child prostitution, slavery, and the innumerable acts of crime perpetrated on societies around the world. With disregard for Gods laws, we have unleashed untold fear, destruction and despair upon Mankind. A healthy society needs restrictions and laws to govern the actions of it's citizens or chaos will run free.
The Wisdom of Man
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. (Romans 1:21) (KJV)
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, (Romans 1:22) (KJV)
And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. (Romans 1:23) (KJV)
But are laws enough to make a civil society or civilization a place
of peace? The answer is No. Unless laws penetrate
the hearts of Mankind, life's problems will continue to plague us.
As the Bible states, man's hardened heart of stone must be softened into a heart of flesh by God's love. Unless we change our way of thinking and reject Self Importance over all other things, the security of Man's laws will not work. The heart of Mankind must allow God's guiding laws to penetrate our hearts so we will have a moral compass to direct our paths.
But why has Mankind rejected God's laws?
I believe one reason why is because most of us believe that God's laws will restrict happiness or enjoyment in our life. But in reality, God's laws give freedom to explore our potential in an environment where-in thieves, murderers, greed and self-centeredness have no place in society.
Because of the lawlessness of Mankind, even the pace of progress is ever being held back. Just imagine what we could do as a species if we didn't have to deal with the destructive nature of a "Me First" mind set.
For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. (Acts 28:27) (KJV)
But what about religion?
Some believe religion is the answer, but make no mistake, our hearts will not change by the regimented adherence to rituals and practices of a religion. Religion is not the answer to the problems of our heart. What is needed is a personal relationship with God through his son Jesus. This will allow God to change our heart of stone to a heart of flesh...
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:26) (KJV)
Through religion, Mankind has always attempted to work their way into the graces of God through self righteous acts. Many problems we see today can be attributed to Religion and not God. Religion forces us to work for our heavenly reward rather than except salvation as a free gift from a loving God
|For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8)
not by works, so that no one can boast.(Ephesians 2:9) (NIV)
History has shown that Religion has been the cause of more deaths, wars, hatred and social destruction than any other institution created by Mankind. God didn't create religion, we did.
All one has to do is search the Bible scriptures and you will see that God has been setting up redemption for Mankind since Adam and Eve lost the Kingdom due to rebellion against God in the Garden of Eden...
God's provision was in the form of a man known as Jesus. He is the messiah sent by God to bring back His creation to a personal relationship with Him.
|For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(John 3:16) (KJV)
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be save. (John 3:17) (KJV)
Who will you serve?
"And Joshua said unto all the people [of Israel], . . . choose you this day whom ye will serve; . . . but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" (Josh. 24:2, 15)
Whether we want to admit or even know, God has placed in our hearts the knowledge of Him. We can deny or ignore this knowledge but without God in our lives, there is an empty feeling that we try to fill with sex, self reliance, wealth, materialism or superficial spiritual beliefs. But as much as we try, we cannot fill this void with anything other then God. He has reserved this place exclusively for Him only.
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, (Romans 1:18) since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. (Romans 1:19) For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-His eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. (Romans 1:20)
So do you think that a true relationship with Jesus could bring about change as opposed to the lawless form of thought running the state of the world today? Is God relevant in our world today? Does the current state of the world indicate a freedom and safety for all societies to flourish?
The relevance of God has to be answered individually and personally and we all have to make up our own mind... I hope you consider what I've written and agree with me that, God is necessary in our world today.
Please consider opening your hearts and mind to Jesus and see just how much of an improvement He can make in your life.
In conclusion, I believe that following scripture testifies to why the world is going the way it is today.
(2Tim 3:1) BUT UNDERSTAND this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].
(2Tim 3:2) For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane.
(2Tim 3:3) [They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good.
(2Tim 3:4) [They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God.
(2Tim 3:5) For [although] they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and reject and are strangers to the power of it [their conduct belies the genuineness of their profession]. Avoid [all] such people [turn away from them]. (Amplified Bible)
