As most Christians know, we are instructed to put on The Full Armor of God to withstand the attacks of God’s enemies, Satan and his fallen angels. For those who do not know what this means or just how to do this in real life, you will see here how to apply God’s protective Armor in your life.

Piece of Armor Its Use How it Applies to your Life
Belt Truth Satan fights with lies, and sometimes his lies sound like truth, but only believers have God’s truth which can defeat Satan’s lies.
Breastplate God’s Approval Satan often attacks our hearts — the seat of our emotions, self-worth, and trust. God’s approval is the breastplate that protects our hearts. He approves of us because he loves us and sent his Son to die for our sins.
Shoes Readiness to Spread the Good News Satan wants us to think that telling others the Good News is a worthless and hopeless task — the size of the task is to too big and the negative responses are too much to handle. But the “shoes” God gives us are the motivation to continue to proclaim the true peace which is available in God — News everyone needs to hear.
Shield Faith What we see are Satan’s attacks in the form of insults, setbacks, and temptations. But the shield of faith protects us from Satan’s flaming arrows. With God’s perspective, we can see beyond our circumstances and know that ultimate victory is ours.
Helmet Salvation Satan wants to make us doubt God, Jesus, and our salvation. The helmet protects our minds from doubting God’s saving work for us.
Sword The Spirit, the Word of God The word is the only weapon of offense in this list of armor. There are times when we need to take the offensive against Satan. When we are tempted, we need to trust in the truth of God’s Word.

We must remember that the Armor of God is not for battle to defeat Satan, because that battle has already been won by Christ on the cross of Calvary.

So then, what is the Armor of God? If you look closely at the armor, each piece is a representation of Christ. We need to put on Christ in our lives to protect us from doing Satan’s will in our lives.

We need the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to guide us and we need to allow Him to recreate our character so we can live the life that God wants us to have. This process is called Sanctification.

Sanctification:

1. a religious ceremony in which something is made holy; The basic meaning of “sanctify” is to set apart to God, for His use.

(Romans 8:29) For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Here is how we should to look at the Armor of God…

The Truth: Jesus is the Truth – (John 14:6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me

The Breastplate: This is God’s approval, and God only approves of the righteousness of Christ. We need to put on Christ’s righteousness, not our own.

The Shoes: The shoes represent the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That message is all about the redeeming love of the Father through Jesus unto salvation and redemption from sin.

The Helmet: This represents salvation, which only comes through Jesus.

The Sword: Which is the word of God. Again, the word is all about the plan of redemption through Jesus Christ.

(John 1:1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

(John 1:2) The same was in the beginning with God.

(John 1:3) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made

(John 1:4) In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

On a Final Note

If you do not know or have drifted away from God, please consider what I’ve written here. Satan mocks those who reject Jesus, knowing they will suffer the Second Death.

Remember, What you believe does not Change Reality. The reality is God exists and wants nothing more than to have a relationship with you through His Son Jesus. Please hearken to His call on your life.

If you do not have a relationship with Jesus, please consider turning your heart and life over to Christ…
